The Backstory

It all started when my friend Jack and I met up for lunch and started talking about how we'd love to eat at a place with live music. The problem? We couldn't find any.

We knew that musicians are eager to perform and gain experience and, secondly, venues can profit from hosting live music. So, why couldn't we find any live music?

We started working on a platform where musicians could find venues, venues could find musicians, and music-lovers could find affordable music.

Our goal evolved into ampmusic.co — a vision for an all-encompassing toolkit for musicians.

A New Type of Booking Platform

Together we created a working beta of a web application that successfully:

  • provides venues with available musicians for a given timeslot

  • allows musicians to request a timeslot and venues to confirm a given request

  • presents "booked" timeslots in a filterable + searchable manner to music-lovers

As we prepared for a soft launch of the Booking Platform we realized that the COVID-19 pandemic was not only getting worse, but clearly not going away anytime soon. After conducting interviews with musicians, doing market research, and fully diving into the music industry, we decided to put the Booking Platform on the back-burner and focus on something new.

Valuable Data, Better Insights

There is a lot that goes into succeeding as a musician. Creating great music is just the start; musicians have to effectively manage their social media, understand their audience, and recognize what works.

We identified an opportunity to bring together data from streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, etc.) and social media(Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) into an easy-to-understand hub we call the Dashboard.

The Dashboard provides musicians with easy access to all of their relevant analytics. Furthermore, the Dashboard will synthesize data and provide intuitive, actionable insights for musicians.
